First, the Good Story - Merit Matters has been invited to speak at the Columbia Association meeting in The Bronx on March 13, 2012. We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to being there.
Next, the Bad Story - Merit Matters has been dis-invited to speak at the Hispanic Society meeting on February 27, 2012. We would apologize to those who had told us they were coming to hear what we had to say, but it was not our decision. Our invitation was retracted following a vote at their January meeting and while we cannot understand the reasoning behind it, there is nothing we can do about it.
We do want to let everyone know that while we do not have regular meetings, when we have our next one anyone who disagrees with our efforts will be allowed to speak first, or last, or whenever during the meeting that they would like. As we have consistently stated, we are confident in our positions and are not afraid of opposing viewpoints.
That leads us right into the Two Updates:
Essay Contest - we have yet to receive (after almost a year and a half) even one essay on the topic, "Merit Matters is Wrong Because...". This we cannot understand. Our opponents have not been shy about trying to censor us; one would think they would jump at the chance to criticize us, have it posted on our website, sent to all our supporters and win $100 for charity to boot! Anyone and everyone is free to submit essays - fraternal group Presidents and spokesmen; EEO professionals; government and private lawyers; judges, clerks and Federal Marshals.
Debate - we have offered to travel to Vulcan Hall for a debate on the issues surrounding the lawsuit but have yet to receive an invitation to do so. Pity. Our offer stands, however, and we would owe a debt of gratitude to anyone who could set this up.
